Keijing Chinglish is where I teach you Mandarin Chinese.
Episode 1: Happy Valentine’s Day 情人节快乐
心 is the Chinese character for “heart”.. It and its two radical forms are used in over 10,000 Chinese words.
And now you can impress your Chinese friends with a couple of phrases! And you can even recognize and write a character. So if you see 心 around take a picture and send it to me… I’ll have a new video in days.
These are my Spanish roommates Raquel and Edu, they are the loveliest couple and they’ve been a breath of fresh air after living one whole year with roommates from Hell! They’re both intellectuals who’ve studied law and economics and they’ve been in China since August. They teach me Spanish, I help them with English, and we study Chinese together. Raquel and I came up with a blended name for all these languages, Chinlatinglish.
We typically take turns cooking dinner and that night I made steak (fajita style), frijoles negros (black beans), grilled vegetables, and mexican rice. It was SCRUMPTIOUS!
After, 之后, Despues
I thought I made enough food to last us until lunch the next day, but there wasn’t a single bite left.
And this is the box of Sutter Home wine that Raquel and me got ripped off for.
This is a correlation of different types of videos so you can get a good idea of what my youtube channel will consist of. So I hope you find it scintillating and uplifting!
Here are some pictures of me at The Great Wall of China (长城), the eighth wonder of the world. The Great Wall is centuries old and stretches across the whole country. It’s the only man made structure that can be seen from outer space. It was built to ward off the Mongolians but I heard it never really worked since it took so long to build. The scenery there is breathtaking, with staircases made of detailed carved marble, surrounding cherry blossom trees, and traditional chinese inscriptions. Most of the wall has been restored but the original wall is in western China, which I have yet to see.
I was really foolish and wore pumps that morning. And though I looked the most stylish amongst all the tourists, I’m surprised I made it home with nothing broken. Not only is every rest stop far in between but also the stairs are so misaligned and steep that you can easily fall to your death. I took the cable car up, which I wish I didn’t because I didn’t bring enough money to get back down. So I had to get back to the ground, staircase by staircase. So when you go to 长城 wear comfortable shoes or walk up the stairs and take the slide down!
碧昂丝在长城 (Beyonce at The Great Wall)
I found these fantastic set of videos about modeling throughout the 20th century..
I’m very disappointed that it’s been a week of no new posts. But I’m back with something tantalizing and amazing, I’m starting my very own web series cleverly titled Keijing. It’s on my youtube channel and it’s just going to be vlogs of my time here in Beijing. You’ll be able to see the good, the bad, and the ugly! I’m very excited!!!
Here’s Episode One- Ghosttown
I was just dumbfounded by the smog here.. And I found an article all about Beijing’s pollution..
So there’s this beautiful Ghanian-British girl that I follow on youtube named Laila. I watch her for hair tutorials, product reviews, and natural hair discussion.. She has a series called Nubian Thoughts which you should take a look at. And she a video contest for the month of February to do a parody of her and to win some nice prizes. I entered it, wish me luck, and I hope you enjoy the video.
