I took another extended hiatus, my apologies. I’ve been living in Nanjing since the summer and I recently took a short vacation to my beautiful hometown, San Francisco. It was refreshing to breathe the clear smog-less air and eat home-cooked meals. I return to Nanjing tomorrow and I’m happy to say that I’ve been completely rejuvenated and I’m ready to surface all my ideas to you guys!

Expect a post after I land!

Rrona and I

The other day, my good friend/former coworker, Rona and I went to one of San Francisco’s most famous museums, the De Young. First we ate Thai food and chatted all about my experiences in China. Our food was très délicieux! She had the roasted duck rice and I had the roasted duck soup. Who would’ve known the animal I fear the most would taste so good!? Pigeon must taste like fresh oven baked chocolate chip cookies, but I’ll never know because I’ll never eat the things! After we ate, we walked down to the museum. Rona has a fabulous camera and photography is her avid hobby. So we took so many pictures! The De Young is located in Golden Park which not only has a scenery beautiful but also this park is the biggest in the city. We saw the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. Gaultier is an amazing French designer who hit it big in the 80s. I really loved the exhibit, even though my style is a bit more conservative than his designs.

I’m very sorry that I took such a long hiatus! There’s no excuse but if this justifies it any, wordpress is banned in China. But don’t fret I solved the problem and Keijing will resume just as before. I just got back to San Fran and I’m happy to say that I’m going back to Beijing in September! Visiting home is amazing, everyday I eat fabulous meals and get to spend time with people who I love and care about.

But anyway, today I went to have breakfast with my father and one of my best friends, Ongell. We ate delicious Belgium waffles and black bean omelets. After breakfast, we rode on over to Haight street and did some vintage shopping. I forgot how beautiful San Francisco is, it’s such an original city! Especially comparing it to Beijing, besides from tourist spots like the Great Wall and Forbidden City, all of the houses and people look the same. In a city like San Francisco, you see people with all kinds of versatility, from styles to ethnicities. You see everything, and that’s what I love about the city I was born and raised in!

I found tons of fabulous pieces, but settled on buying a black satin cape for $6! I think it was from a cheap halloween costume, but I put it on over my cream turtleneck sweater and grey harem pants that was paired with vintage gold mesh Stuart Weitzman pumps. I got a few compliments and I’ve been wanting to bring the 1950s trend of capes back.

Ongell and I had a beautiful afternoon, she found an angora sweater and called me Professor Snape the whole time! We frolicked and painted all of Haight and Ashbury!

在长城穿着高跟鞋(Wearing High Heels to the Great Wall)

Here are some pictures of me at The Great Wall of China (长城), the eighth wonder of the world. The Great Wall is centuries old and stretches across the whole country. It’s the only man made structure that can be seen from outer space. It was built to ward off the Mongolians but I heard it never really worked since it took so long to build. The scenery there is breathtaking, with staircases made of detailed carved marble, surrounding cherry blossom trees, and traditional chinese inscriptions. Most of the wall has been restored but the original wall is in western China, which I have yet to see.

I was really foolish and wore pumps that morning. And though I looked the most stylish amongst all the tourists, I’m surprised I made it home with nothing broken. Not only is every rest stop far in between but also the stairs are so misaligned and steep that you can easily fall to your death. I took the cable car up, which I wish I didn’t because I didn’t bring enough money to get back down. So I had to get back to the ground, staircase by staircase. So when you go to 长城 wear comfortable shoes or walk up the stairs and take the slide down!

So living in China I meet so many different people from all around the world. My friend Piotr Spalek, an Polish-Italian photographer and I decide to reenact the amazing Donyale  Luna. He’s traveled the world and used to take photos for the pope in Vatican City. So went to the what’s called the Korean Market, which is like a dollar store but on crack and bought some cheap fake MAC make up.

Check out Piotr’s AMAAAZING photography here!
